Rohan Fernandes, PhD is an Associate Professor Medicine within the School of Medicine and Health Sciences at the George Washington University (GW) in Washington DC. He is the Program Co-lead of the Clinical and Translational Oncology program at the GW Cancer Center and the Director of the GW Translational Research Lab for the inter-institutional Program for Cell Enhancement and Technologies for Immunotherapy. Dr. Fernandes completed a PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Maryland College Park and a postdoctoral fellowship from Johns Hopkins University. His research focuses on immunoengineering approaches to treat cancer, HIV, and other diseases. More specifically, his research group has developed engineered nanoparticles that can be used to elicit potent treatment responses from the immune system. His research has been supported through multiple grants from the NIH (NCI and NIAID), DoD, and foundations such as the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer.
