BME senior Pratik Mistry received a GW Undergraduate Research Award last year to study brain function in GW’s Nanofabrication and Imaging Center.  Working under the guidance of Dr. Anastas Popratiloff, Pratik captured and analyzed images of the neurons that control tongue muscle movement, and he used this data to map abnormalities that might contribute to a better understanding of swallowing disorders in children.  He presented his work at GW’s Research Days, where he tied for the top undergraduate award in microscopy.
